When are meals delivered?
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, generally between 10am-noon.
Can I get 7- day delivery?
Yes, the meals for the non-delivery days are included with your delivery. They will be either hot and can be reheated the next day, or a frozen meal may be included on the weekend.
Do I have to take both lunch and dinner?
No, you can choose lunches, dinners or both. You can also choose how many days per week you would like meals.
How do I sign up for meals?
Call the kitchen at 203-438-8788 or fill out the form on the Becoming a Client tab and we will call you. Your meals will usually start the next delivery day.
Does MOW deliver in inclement weather?
If the weather is very bad (snow/sleet) and roads are not passable, the kitchen will be closed for the safety of our drivers and kitchen crew. All clients are notified by telephone if we will not be delivering. We also provide emergency bags each year with provisions to use on days when the kitchen is closed due to inclement weather.
How do I reheat my meal?
The plastic trays are microwave safe so meals can be reheated in your microwave. If you don't have a microwave you can switch the food to your own baking dish and warm it in a conventional oven.
What type of milk do you provide?
We can provide 1% or whole milk. If you do not have a preference we provide 1%.
What does lunch consist of?
Lunches include a sandwich, salad and fruit.
What does dinner consist of?
Our dinners include a hot entrée, vegetable, roll, milk, dessert or fresh fruit, juice (if requested) and soup (seasonal).
Are the containers reusable?
No, they are designed for one use. Please recycle with your other plastics.
What type of sandwiches do you provide?
On a rotational basis we serve tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, sliced turkey, sliced chicken, roast beef or low-sodium ham.
Can you deliver the meal to my house and I will deliver it to my parent(s)?
No. It is our policy to deliver the food only to the primary party.
Do I have to be home when the meal is delivered?
No. If you plan to be out or prefer not to answer the door, just leave a cooler outside and we will place the meal inside it.
I don't like fish. Can you give me something else when it is on the menu?
Yes, we can provide a substitute meal if there is a strong dislike or allergy.
How am I invoiced for Meals on Wheels?
Bills are sent out monthly and are due upon receipt.
